Hardness/ Salinity Reduction
Hardness in water is defined as the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium. Hard water is high in dissolved minerals, both calcium and magnesium.
Challenge:
Removal of calcium sulfate and other low solubility sulfates is very difficult for reverse osmosis system as the precipitate causes significant fouling. Expensive pre-treatment operations are needed to remove in order to allow proper desalination to occur.
Solution:
The RDI™ Desalination System offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional technologies for treating this water as the system can tolerate high levels of these sulfates without pre-treatment.
